This statistic shows the top ten of countries with the highest total foreign direct investments (stocks) in the Netherlands in 2018, by value (in million euros). A direct investment abroad is an investment in a business by an investor from another country for which the foreign investor has control over the company purchased. Control, according to the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development, is defined as owning ten percent or more of a business. It includes assets and liabilities transferred between resident direct investors and their direct investment enterprises. Also, it also covers transfers of assets and liabilities between resident and nonresident fellow enterprises, if the ultimate controlling parent is resident. In 2018, Bermuda was the ninth country to send the most direct investments in stocks to the Netherlands.
