Netherlands: top funded start-ups in 2021

In 2021, MessageBird received the biggest startup investment in the Netherlands with a value of almost 830 million euros. Second in the ranking, the payment platform Mollie raised 672 million euros. A startup is usually defined as a starting (group of) entrepreneur(s), but there are many different definitions of what makes a startup a startup. In most of these, the similarities include the age of the entrepreneur or company, the number of employees, the growth potential and level of innovation.
