This statistic displays the number of children who started to be looked after in England in 2011 to 2018. The year with the largest amount of children being looked after was in 2016/17 with 32,940 individuals. Throughout this period there was an annual increase in the number of children being looked after, however in 2017/18 it only amounted to 32,050 children.
