Among the younger age groups is where both frequent and infrequent users of ecstasy are found in the Netherlands. Almost 30 percent of those aged between 25 and 29 years have tried ecstasy at some point in their lives, as of a 2021 survey. While almost four percent in the same age group stated they had taken ecstasy in the past month.
Use of other drugs in the EU
Cannabis is by far the most used drug across the population of the European Union, with almost 30 using at some point during their lifetime. This is followed by cocaine, which reportedly five percent have used in their life and then MDMA with four percent of individuals having used. Additionally, cannabis was the most seized drug in Europe in 2021, with 77 percent of all seizures being a form of cannabis.
