Number of private households Japan 1975-2020
Japan's total number of private households amounted to around 55.7 million in 2020. Even though the number of Japanese households has experienced a consistent increase since the initiation of the Population Census, the number of household members has decreased, indicating the growing number of private one-person and nuclear-family households.
