Age distribution of the Japanese population 1950-2050

The statistic shows the age distribution of the Japanese population in 1950, 2015 and 2050. Approximately five million people within the age group 65 and over were counted in 1950. Due to a decline in both birth and death rates, the age group 65 and over is estimated to reach almost 40 percent, whereas the age group 0-14 years is expected to decrease to less than 10 percent by 2050.
