This statistic shows the annual number of overnight trips taken for holiday, leisure or recreation purposes by residents in Portugal from 2012 to 2018. The data is split by outbound and domestic trips. Portuguese residents generally take more holidays within Portugal than abroad: around seven million vacation trips were taken domestically within Portugal in 2018, compared to 1.19 million outbound trips for the same purpose.
