Private companies were responsible for the majority of new homes built in England in 2021, something comparable to previous years. Housing completions in the UK overall decreased for three years in a row between 2007 and 2010, followed by several years of fluctuation and a gradual increase from 2013 to 2018. In 2020, there were over 140 thousand new dwellings completions, which was still below 2007 levels.
