Also, the source defines shadow banking as "the system of credit intermediation involving entities and activities outside the regular banking system. Non-banks, with the exception of insurers and pension funds, are considered part of shadow banking if they are part of a credit intermediation chain, are not subject to bank or comparable financial supervision and perform activities with bank-like risks such as liquidities."
