The DJ and record producer Alan Olav Walker had the most subscribed YouTube channel in Norway in 2021, with nearly 37.9 million subscribers. His best-known single “Faded” received numerous awards in over ten countries. The second most followed was the beauty channel SaraBeautyCorner, focused on DIY, comedy, makeup and nail art, with 10.6 million subscribers. Third in the ranking list came Soothing Relaxation. KygoMusic ranked fourth with just over six million subscribers. The worldwide YouTube leaders that year were the music record label and film production company T-Series with over 150 million subscribers, and PewDiePie with over 100 billion subscribers.

Alan Walker led in the ranking of most viewed Norwegian YouTubers as well. He had over seven billion video views as of January 2021 and was followed by the other big Norwegian DJ, Kygo, who had 2.7 billion views that year.
Who uses YouTube?
A 2020 survey found that the majority of the younger generation (18-29 years) were YouTube users. Regarding usage of YouTube by gender, there was a slight difference in respondents of ages between 18 and 29 years. 68 percent of men and 67 percent of women of that age were used YouTube. In contrast, the distribution of YouTube users of ages between 30 and 39 was higher for men than for women. 68 percent of respondents in that age group were male and 47 percent were female.
