Antibiotics are medications that can kill or hinder the growth of bacteria which cause infections in people and animals. In 2016, 47 percent of respondents in Spain reported that they had taken oral antibiotics in the previous 12 months, this was above the European 28 average at 34 percent. 53 percent of respondents in Spain reported that they had not taken oral antibiotics in the previous 12 months.
