According to the survey, the city of London was the most visited area by day visitors, accounting for approximately 55 million visits. This was followed by Manchester in the North West of England, with around 30 million visits.

The source adds the following: " It is likely that in some visits taken to destinations in Central London, respondents were unsure of the borough visited so may have provided inaccurate responses regarding the area visited. Also, in around 5% of visits taken to destinations in London respondents did not know which borough was visited." ** GBDVS 2019 was undertaken using an online methodology with a total of 35,746 interviews conducted with adults aged 16 and over who were resident in England, Scotland and Wales during 52 weekly survey waves.
