South Korea: density of hospital beds

The ratio of number of hospital beds available to inhabitants in South Korea saw no significant changes in 2021 in comparison to the previous year 2020 and remained at around 12.77 beds available per 1,000 inhabitants. Still, the ratio of number of hospital beds reached its highest value in the observed period in 2021.
Total hospital beds include all occupied and unoccupied beds in hospitals which are available for admitted patients, and regularly maintained and staffed. They include such beds in general hospitals as well as in specialized hospitals. On the other hand, provisional and temporary beds as well as beds in nursing and residential care facilities are excluded.
