The surveys were intentionally carried out before and after the June 2016 referendum, which saw the United Kingdom vote to leave the European Union ('Brexit'). Of those who had planned long-haul travel, an average of 1.9 trips were planned per person aged 25-34 in May 2016. This went up to 2.3 trips per person in the post-Brexit survey.
