Sales volume of motorcycles in Italy 2010-2018, by type

The number of naked motorcycles sold in Italy in 2018 reached 35 thousand units, about the same as enduro motorcycles. These two types of motorcycle led the ranking every year from 2010 to 2018. By comparison, the third most popular type in 2018, touring motorcycles, reached only 11,798 units sold.

Leading brands

Considering the sale rankings, Honda was the leading motorcycle company in Italy in 2017, with 50 thousand units sold, followed by Piaggio (31,217). The market share of Honda reached 23 percent in 2018, followed by Piaggio, holding 15.4 percent in the same year.  

Import-export industry

The motorcycle manufacturing industry is one of the leading Italian industries, representing Italy across the world. In June 2017, Italy exported motorcycles and power-assisted cycles to the value of about 167 million U.S. dollars. On the other hand, Italy imported motorcycles and power-assisted cycles to the value of about 133 million U.S. dollars
