The electricity mix of the Latin American and Caribbean countries was dominated by hydropower in 2021, which generated almost 43 percent of the total electricity of the region. Non-renewable energy sources, including gas, coal, and oil, made up the second largest share of the power mix, with 38.7 percent in 2021.
