The number of registered secondary occupation fishermen in Norway decreased yearly from 2009 to 2019. In 2019, around 1600 Norwegians were registered as secondary occupation fishermen.

The source adds the following information: "A secondary occupation fisherman is a person who has an annual income from fishing of at least 50,000 Norwegian kroner. A person defined as working full time elsewhere cannot be defined as a secondary occupation fisherman. A person is defined as working full time elsewhere if working hours exceed two-thirds of what is considered normal, or earnings exceed 400,000 Norwegian kroner per year."
