Customer binding with primary supermarket in the Netherlands in 2021, by reason
As of 2021, the majority of consumers in the Netherlands who were asked what binds them to their primary supermarket indicated that they chose to shop at their primary supermarket because it was closest. Approximately 45 percent of respondents cited distance as a factor which binds them to their primary supermarket, while just over 40 percent also mentioned the good value for money. Over the past few years, the possibility of using the self-scan system has become a more important factor for Dutch consumers.
