On Saturday March 11, 2017, the Dutch government prevented Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs MevlĆ¼t Ƈavusoglu from entering the Netherlands by revoking the landing rights of his plane. The car of Fatma BetĆ¼l Sayan Kaya, Turkish Minister of Family Affairs, was escorted back to the German border, where she entered the Netherlands. These two actions caused a diplomatic incident between the two countries. Parliamentary elections took place on March 15, 2017.
