Prevalence of diagnosed arthritis in US adults by body mass index, 2013-2015
This statistic displays the prevalence of doctor-diagnosed arthritis in the adult population in the United States from 2013 to 2015, adjusted for age, by body mass index. From 2013 to 2015, 16,4 percent of the survey respondents in the underweight/normal body mass range indicated that they had a doctor-diagnosed form of arthritis; while, 27.7 percent of those in the obese body mass range had been diagnosed with arthritis. Arthritis is a leading cause of disability and a common chronic condition in the United States. Common forms of arthritis include osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, gout and fibromyalgia.
