Slovakia: rail freight as share of total inland freight transport from 2007-2021

The percentage of rail transport in total inland freight transport in Slovakia increased by 3.6 percentage points since the previous year. In total, the percentage of rail transport amounted to 32.1 percent in 2021. This increase was preceded by a declining percentage of rail transport. Over the observed period, the percentage of rail transport has been subject to fluctuation.

According to Eurostat, rail freight is any goods moved by rail vehicles. This includes all packaging and equipment, such as intermodal transport units (ITU) and pallets as well as road goods vehicles carried by rail.
