Distribution of domestic holiday trips taken by Italians in 2019-2021, by destination
The seaside was the most popular destination for domestic holidays taken by Italians in 2021. That year, seaside or cruise trips accounted for over 57 percent of all domestic vacations made by Italians, while they represented around 49 percent of all domestic holidays in 2019. Meanwhile, the share of domestic visits to the countryside rose from 10 percent in 2019 to almost 15 percent in 2021.
