During the survey period, a majority of drivers, about 27 percent said they stop at a safe location before answering the call, while about six percent said they would hand over the phone to the passenger to answer the call.

According to the source, within each city, four categories of drivers were surveyed: two-wheeler drivers, four-wheeler drivers, truck/bus drivers and auto-rickshaw drivers. Cities surveyed: Delhi, Chennai, Jaipur, Bengaluru, Mangaluru, Kanpur, Mumbai and Kolkata.
