Consumers demonstrated that they would be open to a broad range of sugar substitutes, particularly when these have a vaguely 'natural' origin. According to consumers, honey and plant-based sweeteners have the greatest appeal with a 41 and 24 percent share respectively. Fruit-derived substitutes consisting of dried fruit or fruit puree exhibit less consumer interest at only 22 percent each.
