Bicycle retail in the Netherlands is a fragmented market, with the total number of shops selling bicycles in the Netherlands reaching over 3,085 in 2021, of which the majority are run by independent entrepreneurs. The overall sales volume of new bicycles in the Netherlands decreased in 2021 from over one million bikes sold annually between 2018 and 2020 to approximately 923,000 in 2021.
