Tesla Inc.’s most recent quarterly vehicle production volume came to 96,155 units. The production level in the third quarter of 2019 was about 20 percent higher than during the third quarter of 2018, when Tesla produced 80,140 vehicles.

 Great expectations

  Since the implementation of another assembly line, shareholders have had high hopes that Tesla’s quarterly production would consistently be in the 90,000 unit range, but the carmaker’s 2019 first quarter production volume was significantly lower than expected, resulting in a 25.67 U.S. dollar share price slump between April third and April fourth. With second quarter production figures closer to the 90,000 unit threshold, shares rose some eight percent between July first and second. The stock was down four percent in early October 2019, as the company's third quarter results fell short of expectations.

King of the electric vehicle market

   At about 145,850 units, the Tesla Model 3 was the world’s best-selling plug-in electric vehicle in 2018. With domestic sales of just under 140,000 vehicles, the Model 3 accounted for almost 40 percent of all plug-in electric car sales in the United States. That said, these figures also show how much Tesla depends on the U.S. market.
