Out of all regions, the South East had the largest number of inhabitants, being home to an estimated 4.6 million women and 4.5 million men. Closely followed by London with around 4.4 million female and male inhabitants. The North East was the most sparsely populated region, with a population of 1.35 million women and 1.3 million men.
