Italy: share of children adopted 2014-2015, by area of origin This statistic shows the distribution of children born abroad adopted in Italy from 2014 to 2015, broken down by area of origin. According to the data, the share of adopted children born in Europe decreased from 52 percent in 2014 to 46 percent in 2015, while the share of children adopted from Africa increased by almost seven percent over one year. In 2015, a total of 2,216 children born abroad were adopted in Italy, of which 1,017 were born in Europe.
