Compensated dispensed Parkinson medicines Netherlands 2014-2022

In 2022, a total of over 56 million euros of dispensed Parkinson's disease medicines was compensated and charged by the pharmacies in the Netherlands to health insurance companies. The total compensation was growing steadily and significantly until 2020.

The compensation are the costs charged by pharmacies to the health insurance, excluding taxes. The compensation is on the basis of mutual agreements between the insurance companies and pharmacies and therefore can differ per pharmacy. Furthermore, the compensation is excluding the delivery tariff of the pharmacy.

Concerning pharmaceutical goods that are prescribed as well as (outside of institutions like hospitals and nursing homes) provided and compensated on the basis of the health insurance law (ZVW).
