Italy: applications received for national civilian service 2011-2017

This statistic shows the number of applications for participating in Italian national civilian service projects from 2001 to 2017. As of the survey period, the number of applications increased from about 15 thousands in 2002 to around 118 thousands in 2017, peaking at 148,5 thousand in 2015.
National civilian service is a voluntary national youth service program for Italians aged 18-28. Volunteers in the program are subsidized by the government to work for both public agencies and civil society organizations. The service intends to enhance solidarity and cooperation at a national and international level.
