In 2022, about 32.6 percent of births in Italy happened through caesarean delivery. This statistic shows regional differences in this figure. According to the study results, the frequency of caesarean deliveries was the highest in Campania, where it was used in 47.7 percent of deliveries. Sicily and Apulia were following in the ranking. In general, this practice was more common in Southern regions rather than in Northern ones.
