In 2022, the combined amount of electricity generated from both onshore and offshore wind energy in Germany totaled 125.3 terawatt hours, being 100.2 terawatt hours from onshore farms and 25.1 terawatt hours from offshore sites. At that time, onshore wind power increased by some 11 percent from the previous year. The majority of electricity was generated from onshore wind power, offshore wind power only added a noteworthy amount from 2013 onwards.
