Preferred ice cream flavors in Canada 2019
ProdegeMR in August 2019, chocolate was consumers’ preferred ice cream flavor in Canada, with 23.35 percent of survey respondents favoring chocolate. Some 17.71 percent of Canadians stated that they preferred vanilla varieties.
Ice cream sales
Contradictory to the survey results, vanilla was the highest selling ice cream flavor in Canada in the 52 weeks ending January 5, 2019 - approximately 132 million U.S. dollars’ worth was sold. Chocolate and Neapolitan ranked in second and third places, with sales reaching around 89 and 18 million U.S. dollars respectively. Whilst vanilla was the highest selling variety, cherry flavored ice cream witnessed the largest increase in sales over the same period.

As of April 2017, Dairy queen was consumers’ favorite frozen dessert chain by a large margin in Canada. Some 47 percent of survey respondents chose Dairy queen as their preferred option for a frozen treat. Menchie’s and Baskin Robbins trailed in second and third places, both with a nine percent share of the votes.
