In 2020, the death rate from diabetes mellitus in Spain reached around 20.46 deaths per 100,000 population. That year, Melilla ranked as the autonomous community with the highest death rate from diabetes in the European country, recording more than 55 deaths per 100 thousand inhabitants. Ceuta followed, with a death rate of about 47 casualties due to diabetes per 100,000 people.
