Within the natural and organic beauty product market, the skin care segment holds the highest share of the market, followed by hair care and cosmetics.
Organic certifications

Organic cosmetics refer to beauty products made by natural ingredients, which have been certified by an authorized certification program. Certification bodies, such as NFS, the National Organic Program (NOP), and the OASIS (Organic and Sustainable Industry Standards) are the most popular organic programs in the United States. In Europe several certifications are available. EU Organic, and Nature, are both certified by the European Union, while BDIH and Bio Cosmetique are certification bodies operating in Germany and France respectively.

Natural beauty consumers

When purchasing skin care products, more than half of Americans agreed that they preferably chose a natural/organic product. Interestingly, U.S. Millennials seem to be more interested than the typical consumer when it comes to purchasing beauty products made with natural ingredients.
