During the 2023/24 financial year, there were 36,700 individuals employed by Whitbread through all its business segments in Europe, including the hotel brand Premier Inn. This was a decrease of over two thousand employees from the previous financial year.

Figures are for people employed through all Whitbread's business segments.
In 2018, Whitbread sold the Costa Coffee shop brand to the Coca-Cola Company. The figures for 2017/18 were therefore reinstated to reflect the number of employees in continuing operations, comparable with 2018/19. The figure for 2016/17 still includes people employed through Costa as it was still fully owned by Whitbread during this period.
