This statistic displays the number of private renters that expect to buy a first time home against those that do not expect to buy in England between 2006/07 to 2015/16. The graph in general fluctuates year on year with those in private housing who expect to buy a first time home at some point. As of 2015/16 over 2.5 million private renters expected to buy a home compared with over 1.7 million that did not expect to buy a home at any point.
