This statistic displays the susceptibility of young people to start smoking cigarettes in Finland in 2016, by gender. At the time of the survey, the susceptibility for teenage girls to start smoking was slightly higher than for the boys of the same age.
Legislative actions, health promotion and national monitoring measures are taken to reduce the health risks caused by smoking. For instance, the sale of tobacco for individuals under 18 years of age is prohibited in Finland and cigarette advertising is not allowed.
