This statistic illustrates the distribution of foreign prisoners on the Italian territory as of April 2017, by geographical area. According to data, more than a half of all the foreign prisoners in Italy is under custody in the northern regions of the country. The lowest share of foreign prisoners was registered in the south of the country, reaching 22.1 percent of all the foreign inmates on the Italian territory.
