The sales value from public auctions of art and collectibles in France grew significantly in 2022 compared to the previous year. After dropping to roughly 1.2 billion euros in the first year of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, sales at public art and antiques auctions in the country bounced back to 1.86 billion euros in 2021, then rose further in 2022, peaking at nearly 2.1 billion euros.
