Quarterly contribution of tourism to the employment in the Balearic Islands 2018-2020
In 2020, the contribution of the tourism sector to the employment in the Balearic Islands dropped in relation to the previous two years. For instance, in the second and third quarters of that year —which is the main season for tourism in the Spanish autonomous community— this sector accounted for less than 30 percent of the total number of formal employees. In the same periods of 2018 and 2019, the share of tourism in employment in those islands was above 33 percent.
