Between July 2017 and April 2022 (the figures refer to the last trading day of the month), the market capitalization of Italian companies active in the retail sector listed on the Milan Stock Exchange experienced an overall considerable decrease. In fact, it started at around 5.1 billion euros as of July 2017 and closed at around 784 million euros as of April 2022. Market capitalization of companies in this sector peaked in April 2018, when it reached just under 6.1 billion euros.
