Share of adults with hypertension in Brazil by gender 2023

In 2023, nearly 28 percent of adults in Brazil were diagnosed with hypertension. By gender, when asked if they have been diagnosed with hypertension by a doctor, over 29 percent of women respondents answered affirmatively, up from 27 percent of the women surveyed two years earlier. This figure was higher than the share of Brazilian males who stated to have been diagnosed with hypertension, which attained around 26.4 percent in 2023.
