As the German government has increased efforts to move away from nuclear energy production, capacity has declined. This was particularly noticeable in the years following the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster in 2011. By 2015, installed capacity had fallen to 10.8 gigawatts and stagnated in the following years. Between 1995 and 2018, figures decreased by 12.03 gigawatts. Since 2015, the country has a nuclear installed capacity of 10.8 gigawatts.
