A 2022 survey conducted by the UK Department for Business Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) found that 28 percent of the respondents in the United Kingdom neither support nor oppose fracking for the extraction of gas to generate heat and electricity. However, while almost 50 percent of the respondents to a similar survey did not have an opinion on the matter in 2017, this figure decreased over the past few years. In 2022, 25 percent of the respondents supported this method of extraction, while over 35 percent of them were opposed to it.
