In France in 2024, men were more likely than women to be actively looking for Category A jobs. However, there were more women in category B, i.e. already in reduced activity, and in category C.

Category A refers to unemployed persons who are required to perform positive job search, looking for a job regardless of the type of contract (permanent, fixed-term, full-time, part-time, temporary or seasonal). Category B refers to persons who have had a reduced activity of up to 78 hours per month, who are required to perform positive job search activities. Category C refers to persons who have been engaged in an activity reduced by more than 78 hours per month, required to perform positive acts of job search.
