In 2022, pharmacies were the dominant distribution channel for non-prescription drugs in Italy. In fact, 89 percent of the total sales volume of non-prescription medications in the country came from pharmacies. Conversely, the share value of parapharmacies was of approximately 6.5 percent, while that of large-scale retail was equal to only 4.5 percent.
