This statistic illustrates the share of funding of small medium business enterprises (SMEs) that were funded by institutions in the United Kingdom (UK) from 2015 to 2017, by alternative finance models. Throughout the years the investment share from retails investors has increased in all alternative finance models. In 2017, the highest share of institutional funding was invested in the equity-based crowdfunding, followed by peer-to-peer business lending, at 49 percent and 40 percent respectively.
