Gross national product (GNP) composition of Bulgaria by sector 1939-1967
At the outbreak of the Second World War, the agriculture and forestry sector was responsible for over half of Bulgaria's gross national product (GNP); in the two decades after the war this sector's contribution shrank to almost 15 percent. In contrast, the industry and handicraft's share of GNP grew from below ten percent in 1939 to 43 percent in 1967.
