This statistic displays the average carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from new petrol passenger cars in the European Union (EU-28) from 2000 to 2016 in grams of carbon dioxide per kilometer (g CO2/km). It shows that emissions of carbon dioxide have been steadily decreasing during this time period, dropping from 177.4 g CO2/km to 121.7 g CO2/km. The sharpest drop occurred in 2009.
